The funny things they (we) say

I was making a comment on my friends blog about how great it is to have a fun place to write down all those cute and funny things our kids say when they are little......For me if I remembered I would find somewhere to write it and some day I'll find them, I hope. But as I was thinking about it, I realized that I had one of those funny moments myself.......
So a month or so ago, Josh was in his drama class. Ryan, Mark Jr and I were waiting in the car (usually playing cribbage while we wait) we were talking about a recent punishment they were given and Ryan was arguing that it wasn't a 'just' situation. He was upset because he didn't feel as though he had done the same thing Josh did but yet he was being punished also............Well clever, smart, brilliant, Me pipes up.......I quickly rush to the mother mode and I am going to give a great example to explain this so he can understand.........So without much thought, these brilliant things just seem to come to me, I speak......"Ryan, let me give you an example.........let's say you kill someone but you don't do it intentionally and Josh also kills someone and does it on purpose....you both are going" ----------------Now midsentence, I look in the rearview mirror to see Ryan's jaw dropped open and his expression on his face is WHAT???? Well at that moment my brain starts to function again and I just crack up. The words just caught up to my brain and as I see the expression on his face I realize what I was just saying.............We laughed for quite a while, me longer than them, I still chuckle every time I think about it. Where in the world did I get that from??????????????
It wasn't even a good example, I explained to him, because in those situations the punishments would be different and I was trying to explain how sometimes our actions are different but punishment is the same. Why in the world would I go so far out to left field and use killing as any kind of example ever???????

Sometimes we just have those crazy "mom"ents... Don't worry, though. Your boys know that you don't endorse murder of any sort...
